On-going Reconstruction of Railway Network
Several attempts have been made to forestall the dwindling situation of Ghana’s railway network with a number of PPP proposals being considered for the re-development of the existing railway network, especially the Western Line. Meanwhile, Government is currently funding the reconstruction of a section of the Western Line from Sekondi to Takoradi via Kojokrom (approx. 11km) aimed at easing road congestion between the twin cities. Government also has funding available to rehabilitate Takoradi – Tarkwa and possibly Tarkwa – Dunkwa.
